Lingard Book Plate

Lingard Book Plate
In 1853, Dr. Lingard A. Frampton donated his valuable private collection of approximately 4,500 volumes to the College. Frampton’s books were marked with book plates such as the one pictured here. This substantial donation played an integral part in obtaining the funds to construct the College’s first separate library building, which was completed in 1856 and later named Towell Library.
