After the Brown Fellowship Society's Cemetery was purchased by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charleston, the Diocese promised to move the gravestones, monuments, and remains to a new cemetery off of Cunnington Avenue. Unfortunately, this did not occur. In 2001 as construction was starting on Addlestone Library at the College of Charleston, human remains were discovered.
