After the Brown Fellowship Society's Cemetery was purchased by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charleston in the 1940s, the Diocese promised to move the gravestones, monuments, and remains to a new cemetery off of Cunnington Avenue. Unfortunately, this did not occur, not all of the remains were relocated like was promised. In 2001 as construction was starting on Addlestone Library at the College of Charleston, human remains were discovered.
