Charleston Centennial of the Confederacy

Charleston Centennial of the Confederacy
The committee planning Charleston’s observances of the Civil War Centennial, the “Confederate Centennial Commission,” called the Civil War the “Confederate War.” Their stated purpose was “to assist in commemorating with dignity noteworthy events occurring at Charleston during the Confederate War, and thus pay honor and tribute to those who fought and sacrificed to the utmost in a cause they deeply believed to be right and just.” | Source: The Charleston Centennial of the Confederacy Commemoration 1861-1961.
